In this
article, I have included some backgammon tips recommended by
professional backgammon players.
Enjoy.
Backgammon tips #1:
Place two or more discs on a single point, this will help you to stop
your opponent from hitting your discs, thereby preventing it from
starting
all over again. Moreover, it will help you to block or trap your
opponent.
Backgammon tips #2:
Don't be too eager to hit your opponent's discs, excessive hitting & a
tendency to leave points occupied by only one disc are common beginner's
approaches.
Remember, the primary objective of the game is to bear off all your
discs, not to make as many hits as possible.
Backgammon tips #3:
If you have eight discs on two points (four discs per point) you should
try to make it three discs on two points and two discs on one point.
The second disc layout is much more effective then the first, because
you will be able to make more moves and enjoy greater flexibility.
Backgammon tips #4:
Try to not allow your opponent to occupy his home board points with two
or more discs, since a 'strong' home board of your opponent means that
it will be harder to bring back to the game any of your discs which have
been hit. You should try to occupy your opponent's home board with your
discs. (Two or more per point, of course)
Backgammon tips #5:
Another good idea is to occupy points (by two or more discs) without
leaving gaps directly in front of your enemy discs inside your home
board. Six points occupied in a row are called 'prime', and assist in
preventing your opponent's discs from escaping.
Backgammon tips: #6:
It's very important to hit discs that your opponent would like to cover
because they make a important point.
You shouldn't attack blindly, think before you attack, and if, on
second thought, you still believe that hitting your opponent's disc will
give you an
important advantage, then hit it.
Backgammon tips #7:
If hitting your opponent will expose you and make you more 'vulnerable'
than your opponent, you should reconsider hitting.
Backgammon tips #8:
You should try and occupy (by two or more discs) any point on your
opponent's home board.
This way you will be able to enter your discs much more easily, and you
will also be able to prevent your opponent from making it to is home
board.
I hope
these tips will help you win more games. |
